Spinal Decompression Therapy

If you or a loved one currently suffer from long term lower back pain, and have not found success with other treatments, Spinal Decompression Therapy may provide the relief you’re looking for. While there are two forms of spinal decompression, surgical and non-surgical, at Preferred Injury Physicians we only perform the safer and gentler non-surgical form.

What's Spinal Decompression Therapy?

Spinal decompression therapy seeks to relieve back pain through motorized traction, which works by gently stretching the spine. Stretching the spine in this way will alter the position and forces of the spine, which can relieve pressure from the spinal discs (the squishy cushions which exist between your vertebrae).

As a result of these stretches, you may see retractions in bulging herniated discs, which can take pressure off of nerves and other parts of the spine. Not only can spinal decompression reduce disc herniation, it also helps to promote the free movement of oxygen, water, and other fluids into the discs to help aid in the healing process.

Is Spinal Decompression Therapy Right for You?

Physicians have utilized nonsurgical spinal decompression in an attempt to treat a multitude of ailments, including:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Sciatica pain
  • Bulging or herniated discs
  • Degenerative disc diseases
  • Worn down spinal joints
  • Diseased or injured spinal nerve roots
